M-Club Student Research Scholarship Fund
The University of Michigan-Club of Greater Flint (M-Club) recently announced it is increasing its support of student research at UM-Flint by endowing the Student Research Scholarship Fund in the Office of Research. The M-Club of Greater-Flint has been supporting this fund for 15 years by providing money for students to use for their research. With this new commitment the club will continue to make money available for students each year. What changes with this commitment is that they will be making a deposit into a second fund that will be endowed for future use.
“We are so happy to receive this gift by the alumni. Student research helps enrich what academics are all about. It assists students to really dive deeply into a subject they have a passion for. It also helps our students develop critical thinking skills that employers and graduate schools are looking for. It is great that our alumni understand how research adds to the academic career of our students and that they want to support it,” said Dr. Terry Van Allen, UM-Flint Director of Research.
The excitement about this gift is not limited to just the Office of Research. The leadership of the M-Club is also very pleased about the new gift agreement.
“The University of Michigan is known across the world for their excellence in the area of research. We at the M-Club wanted to support those activities on the Flint Campus and provide students with the opportunity to share their research across the UM system. We felt that this gift would go a long ways to making this opportunity available to student for generations to come,” said Chris Carr, UM Club Immediate Past President.
The University of Michigan Club Of Greater Flint is made up of alumni from all three campuses of the University of Michigan that live in the Flint region. For more information about the club you can visit their webpage at: M-Club Home
